Outreach Bible Study
The backbone of The Hope Center’s ministry is its weekly bible studies. Our aim is to empower youth to have a loving, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Hope Center strives to create an environment that is safe for the kids to discuss the everyday challenges of living in the inner city. Kids who attend also develop strong relationships with their leaders and peers, and have fun.
Who can Attend: Kids who are in kindergarten through 6th grade may attend The Hope Center’s Outreach Bible Study (OBS). Most of the kids who attend live within the Oak Park and Palestine neighborhoods, located on the East Side of Kansas City, MO.
When and Where: The kids provide their own transportation to The Hope Center located at 2800 E. Linwood Blvd., arriving at 6:30 p.m., and are brought home by adult leaders at 8:30 p.m.
What we Do:
1) Weekly Bible Study: Kids gather at 6:30pm to participate in games, compete for prizes, and have fun. The kids then break into small groups and are taught a Bible study lesson by two adult leaders. A leader to kid ratio of 1:5 is maintained. Being involved in the bible study requires commitment on behalf of the kids. Participants are asked to maintain a high attendance, memorize their weekly bible verse, and behave in an orderly fashion. We believe that developing consistency and commitment in the kids’ lives will help them grow in their relationship with God. It is through Outreach Bible Study that many kids are introduced to Jesus and begin to develop a personal relationship with Him. You can read about the Outreach Bible Study curriculum here.
2) Developing relationships: OBS leaders work hard to show the kids how much they care about them. The bible study leaders develop strong relationships with their bible study kids by regularly visiting their homes and organizing activities for them in the community.
