We support The Hope Center because it is a social service ministry that keeps the gospel at its core. Helping individuals in economically challenged communities transform their circumstances begins with the understanding that there is a God in heaven who loves them so much that He sent His Son to die for them. This foundational truth is vital to all ministry, and I deeply appreciate how The Hope Center integrates the gospel into their outreach efforts.
We are committed to faithful giving because we believe it is a spiritual discipline. Proverbs 3:9 reminds us to "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops."Â
My journey with this verse has been enlightening. I’ve never considered myself particularly organized, and there were times when I’d write my tithe check several days after payday. A few times, I found myself unable to give the amount I wanted because I had already spent the money. This always left me with a sense of conviction. Then, the rise of internet banking and online bill pay changed everything. Now, on payday, as part of my spiritual discipline, I can give from the first fruits of my labor, and I truly love how that feels.
I first met Marvin Daniels through a mutual friend, Pastor Phil Jackson of Chicago, who is the Founder and CEO of the Firehouse Community Arts Center—a vibrant inner-city ministry similar to The Hope Center. Phil, originally from Kansas City, connected with me through our involvement in The Crucible Project, a Christian men's weekend retreat ministry. When Phil was in town, he reached out to several of us from the KC area and introduced us to Marvin over a meal at Gates BBQ. That gathering allowed us to learn more about The Hope Center and its mission.
In supporting The Hope Center, we invest in a ministry that not only addresses immediate needs but also shares the life-changing message of the gospel.
