Honoring Vernae Acklin, A Pillar of Hope

April 5, 2024: Mrs. Vernae Acklin's connection with The Hope Center spans back to its earliest years, and her dedication to our mission has been unwavering. All four of her children - Michael, Malachi, Makayla, and Mya - have been active participants in our programs. As Makayla and Mya, both seniors this year, prepare to embark on new chapters in their lives, Mrs. Acklin's steadfast support continues to shine through.

Michael, during college breaks, generously dedicates his time to serve with our Learn to Earn lawnscape program, embodying the spirit of giving back instilled by his mother. Meanwhile, Mrs. Acklin herself plays an integral role at our partner school, Hope Leadership Academy (HLA). Her journey with HLA began when MaKayla and Mya started kindergarten there in 2011, and she has been an invaluable staff member of the school community since 2013. Her willingness to volunteer in The Hope Center's various afterschool programs reflects her servant's heart, endearing her to the students, particularly those at HLA, who eagerly anticipate seeing her outside her office.

For Mrs. Acklin, The Hope Center is more than just a place of service - it's a beacon of opportunity and community for her children. Through guest speakers, trips, camps, and mentorship opportunities, her children have forged meaningful connections and built lasting memories. The Center has provided them with a platform to develop leadership skills, showcase their talents, and deepen their understanding of Christ. Mrs. Acklin's favorite aspect of The Hope Center is its sense of closeness and family atomsphere, where every child and youth is not only loved and cared for but also nourished - both physically and spiritually.

Vernae Acklin exemplifies the essence of The Hope Center - a nurturing environment where families like hers find support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Her commitment to our cause enriches the lives of countless children and youth, embodying the transformative power of love and community. We are deeply grateful for her presence and dedication, which continue to inspire us all.
